Org charts in the energy sector

Our customer is an industrial development house with large-scale production facilities and accredited test centres.

With some of the most skilful specialists in the industry on board, they have also established themselves as the global market leader in lightning protection systems and leading edge protection for the wind power industry.

Why TeamOrgChart?

The company is rapidly growing. With business growth at an impressive rate, they have grown from around 55 staff members to around 850, which has brought with it some challenges. At the beginning of their business journey, they were using a standard, in-house organisational chart created using Microsoft PowerPoint.

As the company began to grow in size, they soon realised that manually maintaining their existing org chart was far too time consuming and simply not feasible anymore. Although their free chart was fit for purpose at the beginning, it soon began to create more issues than it was solving and ultimately, they knew that a change needed to be made. Their main issue was that the chart would display admin and office staff and was therefore missing the rest of the team.

Due to the nature of their business, production teams change shape and roles on a regular basis which meant that to update the org chart repetitively, would have been a waste of resources and time. Our customer was looking for a system that could sync with their active directory and accurately display their entire team enduring that nobody was left out.

How has TeamOrgChart Helped?

TeamOrgChart has enabled them to implement and sync their entire active directory to the organisational chart and easily show all employees exactly how the business is structured, without the need for repetitive admin tasks and general upkeep. In particular, the ‘drag and drop’ feature from TeamOrgChart has proved a great hit with the company and one of the standout benefits of using the software as a whole.

Overall benefits of using TeamOrgChart

The overall benefit of using TeamOrgChart is that as a large company, it has allowed them to clearly show all of their employees the complete structure of the business, from top to bottom. This ability to have a clear open plan view has meant that employees can communicate much more efficiently across multiple departments, as a result of them knowing who needs to be contacted for a particular task/ question.

Another great benefit for them has been the improvement in their onboarding process. The onboarding and introduction to the business for a new employee is now much easier and clearer as every department has their individual staff listed, in the correct position. It has also been used as an introductory tool for existing employees to get to know their work colleagues, across the board.

Conclusion

TeamOrgChart has reduced manual, time consuming tasks for the customer which has allowed them to focus on the more important day to day tasks within the organisation.
