How to Create a Leadership Team

  1. Enter Edit mode.
  2. Open the context menu on an individual’s chart box.
  3. Select the Leadership Team Member option. A leadership box will then be created at the top of your chart.
  4. Click on the leadership box title and rename it to suit your organization.

To include an individual in both the org chart and the leadership box:

  1. Enter Edit mode.
  2. Click the Add button on an individual’s chart box and select Add Below.
  3. Navigate to the Additional Role tab and search for the person you wish to add this additional role to.
  4. Click Add. A duplicate of the person will then be added to the chart.
  5. Open the context menu on this new chart box.
  6. Select the Leadership Team Member option. The person will then appear in the leadership box at the top of your chart.

How Could You Use a Leadership Team

Joint Leadership

Many organizations operate with co-leaders, such as co-founders or joint managers. The leadership box allows you to display them side by side in a way that emphasizes collaboration and equal responsibility, rather than hierarchy.

Board of Directors

Boards often include members who are not part of the day-to-day hierarchy but play a critical role in guiding the organization. By placing your board members in the leadership box, you can visually highlight their importance without altering the formal reporting structure.

Executive Visibility

Executives and senior managers may not always fit neatly into a traditional hierarchy. The leadership box allows you to feature them prominently at the top of your chart, helping employees quickly identify who is responsible for strategic decision-making.

Special Project Teams

Sometimes leadership extends beyond permanent roles. For example, if you’ve created a temporary committee for a large project or transformation initiative, the leadership box makes it easy to show this temporary group of decision-makers at the top of your org chart.

Benefits of Leadership Visibility

Making key leaders clearly visible on your org chart provides several important benefits:

  • Improved Communication: Employees know exactly who is directing the organization and can more easily understand lines of responsibility.
  • Trust and Transparency: Visibility of leadership fosters a culture of openness, showing employees who is accountable for strategy and direction.
  • Employee Engagement: When staff can see the people leading the business, it creates stronger connections and helps align everyone to shared goals.
  • Onboarding Made Easy: New hires can quickly get familiar with the organization’s key decision-makers, shortening their ramp-up time.

In short, the leadership box is not just a visual feature—it’s a practical way to strengthen organizational clarity and trust across your teams.
